If you have broadband that is.

The site is www.archive.org
That is the base site, anyway. From there you can link to many other areas that include archives of websites, moving images (the Prelinger Archives are pretty sweet), texts and audio. The texts area include Project Gutenberg and the Million Book Project. The audio section includes a ton of live Grateful Dead recordings if you are into that.

This is one of those sites that makes the internet so cool.

I stopped at Safeway this evening for some Diet Pepsi. I also decided to pick up some dog snacks for Tattoo. One of the packages of doggie treats claimed to be low fat. This got me thinking...

As the cashier dude rang up my order I asked him if they had an low carb dog treats. He looked at me sort of funny. I said my dog was trying that Atkins thing ... do they have any low carb dog snacks? He looked very perplexed and caused me to have pity on him. I told him I was messing with him. He seemed quite relieved by this.

On a totally different note, when I first moved to California back in the early 80s I wanted a Volkswagen pretty badly. I read VW magazines and perused VW parts catalogs. At one time I called up a parts supplier (based in southern California) to ask them about some parts they had advertised in a magazine. The guy who I spoke with referred to some of the parts as 'totally bitchin'. I was (and still am, to some extent) very tickled by that. That really made me feel like I was in California, for some reason.
