Joe Sacco is a journalist/comic artist who has written/drawn quite a few good books about various conflicts.

The Guardian sent him to Iraq recently and he created Complacency Kills. It's available as a free pdf download (36MB) and it's pretty good. I really like Joe's illustration style.

I really hate the current situation in regards to copyright law. I'm not going to go into a big rant against it at the moment but I just found this website. Turns out that the Happy Birthday song is still copyrighted. If you see somebody singing it in a public place they are most likely breaking the law.

The song Happy Birthday was written (the tune anyway) in 1893. It is not owned by Time Warner and makes them about 2 million a year.

If you see somebody singing this song in public, stealing money out of the pockets of those poor Time Warner executives, please, please, send an email to licensing@ascap.com and let them know the details. Only when we all work together can we bring an end to the tragedy of unlicensed performances of this song.

My dad did two tours of duty in Vietnam. I have been scanning in the slides he took while there. You can see them here.

That's my dad.
