Number One!
Jun. 15th, 2006 12:04 amChico is #1 again.
Not the #1 party school this time. Now it is number one in overpriced real estate.
DeKaser's study examines what home prices should be, controlling for differences in population density, relative income levels, interest rates, and historically observed market premiums or discounts. Potential "bubblettes" include cities such as Chico, Calif., where a buyer will pay the highest premium for a home at 43 percent.
I like Chico but this is one of the reasons I'd like to move. I really want to own my own home but when an ex-meth lab crack house costs 200K it's just not going to happen. I'd have to go into huge debt for the rest of my life to own a house I'd be ashamed of. So fugeddaboutit.
