Are you ready to ruuuummbbllee!!!???
Dec. 5th, 2006 02:38 pmI'm in a combative mood, motherfucker. Yah, I'm talking to you. You know who you are. Come on, you want a piece of me!?
Over in some community that Doro is in some weenie has posted some comments that annoyed her. I offered to go over and kick over his sand castle and burn the skin off his flesh (metaphorically) but she said no.
Also, on some other political forum some other weenie that I have some personal history with jumped in my shit and made allusions to planting his foot in my ass. I didn't really like him before but now he's moved up into the active dislike category. His comment combined with our previous history have put me in a mood.
So, instead of going to those places I'll just get all helter skelter here. And I've got the hair for it too.
The doink that annoyed Doro (I won't mention his name or the community, but I will quote him) likes to let everybody know that he went to seminary school. Anybody that does that, constantly reminding everybody of their 'credentials', is suspect, in my little red book.
He wrote all kinds of crap, stuff I'm really not into (and the community post is private so I can't comment there without joining the community, which I don't want to do) but one thing he said raised my flags.
The real question is whether the Orthodox Church is the Church, not whether we're okay with each of her doctrines and practices. If Orthodoxy is the Church, then it is we who must adjust, not the Church.
I gotta call bullshit. Why would anybody want to be part of any sort of group that has this attitude? I find it hard to believe that this weenie is an actual member of any clergy. If he is, that doesn't say much for the leadership of the group, I don't think.
The main reason why I'm quoting this part is because after reading it, I read this in a book. A fiction book. A fantasy book even. The religion being referenced is not even real. Well, less real than any others.
"There's faith that knows itself as faith, Proyas, and there's faith that confuses itself for knowledge. The first embraces uncertainity, acknowledges the mysteriousness of the God. It begets compassion and tolerance. Who can entirely condemn when they're not entirely certain they're right? But the second, Proyas, the second embraces certainity and only pays lip service to the God's mystery. It begets intolerance, hatred, violence..."
Weenieboy sure seems like his faith is the second. I read a few of his other posts and comments and he seems real big on just being a bigshot in the community, not in actually being a good guy.
When I offered to go over to this community and jump in this guy's shit for Doro and she said no, one of the reasons she gave was because I didn't know the theology. Which is true. I don't really know jack about it. But I do know arguing on the internet :P And besides, truthfully, and I hope I don't piss off people too much with this, arguing semantic theology seems really stupid to me. It's in the same league as arguing who would win in a fight, Spiderman or Wolverine. Might be fun to do if you are into the subject matter, but if you start getting too serious about it, you're being a putz and you are going to annoy people.
