Besides a brief period when I drank a lot, I've never used too many recreational drugs. The times I did it was usually because I was drunk and I'll do any stupid shit then.

But I've always thought I would dig opium. I think I would dig it so much I'd get hooked pretty fast, so I've never tried it. And, I have no idea how to get it. I'm clueless about scoring illegal drugs.

I think though, that if I ever find myself with a finite amount of time left in this life, I think I'll go ahead and see about trying it.

In Xanadu did Kubla Khan
A stately pleasure-dome decree:
Where Alph, the sacred river, ran
Through caverns measureless to man
Down to a sunless sea.

Or something.

A couple days ago I wrote in a post:

I think that we will be seeing even more of these in the future. The people in charge just don't seem to get it. They'll add more security guards and metal detectors and freak out when the goth kid writes bad poetry that his uptight english teacher finds. But they won't understand what the problem is.

That was in reference to school shootings.

Today I see this story from the Chicago Tribune:

High school senior Allen Lee sat down with his creative writing class on Monday and penned an essay that so disturbed his teacher, school administrators and police that he was charged with disorderly conduct.

Allen Lee, an 18-year-old straight-A student at Cary-Grove High School, was arrested Tuesday near his home and charged with disorderly conduct for an essay police described as violently disturbing but not directed toward any specific person or location.

So there you go.

Send me 20 bucks and I'll tell you next week's Super Lotto numbers.

Randall Tobias, head of the Bush administration's foreign aid programs, abruptly resigned Friday after his name surfaced in an investigation into a high-priced call-girl ring, said two people in a position to know the circumstances of his departure.

Family Values and all that.

ABC reported on its Web site late Friday that Tobias confirmed that he had called the Pamela Martin and Associates escort service to have women come to his condo and give him massages.

Of course. And he has a subscription to JUGS magazine because of the great articles.

He wasn't always head of foreign aid programs though....

As the Bush administration's so-called "AIDS czar," Tobias was criticized for emphasizing faithfulness and abstinence over condom use to prevent the spread of AIDS.

Yah, what is that word? Starts with an I....irony and that other one, starts with an H...hypocrisy?

It seems like the plan is to just pile these scandals and fuckups on and on until we the people are so tired of them we just shrug our shoulders and say 'meh' when we hear about a new one.
